Vale sign Fortune

Port Vale, who play Hereford United in the LDV, have strengthened their squad with the signing of Bristol City's Clayton Fortune on loan reports onevalefan.

Fortune's departure follows Bristol City's loan signing of centre-half Marc Joseph from Championship side Hull City a move that apparently made Fortune surplus to their requirements.

The six foot, three inch defender shot to prominence at Ashton Gate a couple of years ago when he was chased by several Premiership clubs. City subsequently turned down a big money bid from Champions side Preston North End for the centre-half.

However, Fortune's form suffered as a result of these attentions and he is now no longer a first choice defender at Ashton Gate.

It is not yet known if he is able to play for Vale in the LDV game against the Bulls.

Meanwhile the Stockport County Official Website reports that:

County have not been chosen as one of the four sides that will receive a £75,000 bonus for appearing on television in the second round of the FA Cup.

With the Hatters lying near the bottom of League Two, and Hereford in the top half of the Nationwide Conference, and also with their great history in the competition, the tie could well have been a contender to be switched for TV purposes.
