Cross Dressing and the Wurzels

It's very difficult to keep up with all that going on at Exeter City. Yesterday came the revelation that the Grecians manager had said that "the management like to wear women's clothing (true, but only on Thursdays)," and today the earth-shattering news that the Wurzels are to play at the Second Annual Cider Festval at St James.

Alex Inglethorpe revealed the cross-dressing story in an article about websites and message boards.

He admitted that message boards "are a great way to communicate with people from all over the country, if not the world. It allows fans that are unable to get to games to stay in touch with their club and get the view from the man on the terrace.

"The only problem I can see in all of this is that it can be done anonymously. It's sometimes easy to misuse a message board if you are not accountable for your comments."

He then poked fun at the forums with this comment.

"I had a meeting with the players the other day because gossip in the dressing room had reached an all time high that we were about to sign a new player. It had unsettled them and upon discussion it came out that this had all started as a rumour on a website. Along with the ones that say half our team are currently on drugs, that they are out in Arena most nights, the management like to wear women's clothing (true, but only on Thursdays) and they are knocking down the Cathedral to build us a brand new club shop."

Inglethrope continued: "Who knows maybe one day I'll pick a screen name and add my views in to the mix?

"So if you happen to read a rumour from 'midweek skirt wearer' then please take it with a big pinch of salt!!!"

Luckily for Inglethrope Exeter City visit Hereford on a Saturday this season.

Meanwhile Exeter are to invite the Wurzels to be top of the bill at the The Second Annual Cider Festival which will take place in the St James's Centre on November 18. The group headed the first Cider festival last year which was reported as being very popular.

The Somerset based group used to appear regularily in Herefordshire in the 1970's. At that time they were fronted by the late Adge Cutler.

Their popularity appears to have taken a long time to be recognised in deepest Devon.
