The administrators currently running Wrexham, Begbies Traynor, have confirmed that they have won the legal challenge to return the freehold of the Racecourse Ground back to the club after controversial former Chairman Alex Hamilton transferred it to his Crucial Move company.
The High Court ruling means once the Club is sold, Hamilton must be paid £300,000 from the proceeds - the amount paid to Wolverhampton and Dudley Brewery for the ground in 2002. The ground was sold to the club, but then immediately transferred to one of Hamilton's companies. Hamilton can appeal the ruling by petitioning the Court of Appeal. His reign at Wrexham ended a year ago but he remains the majority owner.
Another former Chairman in trouble is George Reynolds, the former Darlington supremo. He pleaded guilty today to cheating the Inland Revenue out of £650,000. The one time Rich List entrant lost an estimate £260million fortune in less than five years but now faces a custodial sentence.
