With the introduction of the Transfer Window into the Football League and Conference for the first time, the transfer rules within the window are still being worked out.
The Conference has instigated a 7 day bar on transfers for both transfer window closures on August 31st and January 31st, and on signing players released from other Clubs within the closed window.
The Football League, for reasons unknown, have yet to confirm the rules on players released from other Clubs. Both Adam Proudlock and Clyde Wijnhard were terminated from their original clubs for breaches of discipline, but have been loaned to their current clubs rather than made as a permanent transfer as the Football League has sought clarification from the FA over their status, and no player on a short term deal at one Football League club has moved on to another Football League side.
Several players still seeking employment in the Football League have chosen to play non-contract at lower graded sides, like goalkeeper Saul Deeney at Burton, to maintain both fitness and availability as the rules for transfers have not been set in stone - and may not be for some time.
