Mark has to earn his dinner says Turner

Mark Turner could earn himself his dinner if Alfreton defeat Hereford United tomorrow.

Turner's father Graham manages the Bulls and as yet Mark, who has played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Northampton Town, Telford United, Tamworth and Hereford, hasn't played in a side that have defeated them.

"I've played him five times but never won," Mark told the Drebyshire Telegraph.

"They were all in the Football League - we've never met in the FA Cup before so it's a bit different this time.

"I've scored against him before and it'd be nice to do that again."

The rest of the Turner family will be at Edgar Street for tomorrow's game and Mark will have no problem motivating himself for the clash.

"We've agreed that whoever's on the losing team has to buy dinner for the whole family tomorrow night, so it could be expensive," he said.

"The whole family will be there. I think they'll sit behind dad and be cheering for him because they know which side their bread's buttered.

"I'll be a bit of a black sheep but I don't mind if it means we're in the first round proper."

Asked if he could get any inside information from his father Mark continued:

"To be honest, I know him too well - anything he told me would be the opposite of what was actually true," he said.

"I think he'd expect the same from me, too.

"There's been a bit of banter this week but we'll both prepare in exactly the same way as usual.

"Obviously, we'll have a chat before the game but come 3pm it will be all about trying to get Alfreton Town through to the next round.

"I've got my own career and dad knows that.

"Usually it's a case of us both wanting to see the other do well but it's the FA Cup and only one of us can go through."
