Mansfield Boss blames tiredness for defeat

Mansfield Town caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff has blamed fatigue for his sides disappointing recent performances particually at Carlisle last Saturday. The Stags meet Hereford United in the LDV tomorrow evening.

"I think we ran out of steam. When you get tired, the thought process disappears a little bit - and making three substitutions really didn't make much of a difference," Shirtliff told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"It is quite a long way. We stopped off for lunch at Preston and then had another hour-and-a-half on the coach, but no one would have been talking about that had we won.

"It is not going to just turn around overnight.

"We have got to be a bit more resilient and more clinical in our finishing because that would have given us something to hold on to."

Meanwhile one Mansfield player is being tipped to leave the club in the New Year according to Eat Sleep Sport.

Watford are being strongly linked with a move for midfielder Giles Coke and are set for a January bid for the player.

The 19-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest in the early part of the season and the Hornets have sent scouts to watch him on numerous occasions.
The youngster has impressed in a struggling side and with no permanent manager in charge Watford could swoop as soon as the window opens,

Sheffield United and Norwich are also said to be keen.
