Away support helps the Bulls

The 500 Hereford United fans that watched the game at Stevenage yesterday were a credit to their club and no doubt helped the Bulls secure their victory.

Hereford United have the second best away record in the Conference and probably the highest number of away supporters. Only leaders Barnet have a better away points talley but their support is much lower.

One of the reasons Hereford appear to have so much support when away from Edgar Street is that their fan base comes from all over the country and beyond.

It was very noticable at Broadhall Way that there were fans that are not always seen at Hereford. Earlier in the season the same appeared to be the case at Crawley.

A London based fan said that it was difficult to get to Edgar Street for home games but he always tried to see the Bulls when they came to the South East. There are many more like him.

Their support could be vital at Woking in a few weeks time when Hereford play their last away game in the Conference this season. Both teams are currently in with a chance of making the play-offs and good support for the Bulls could make the difference.

The other two away games are at Forest Green and Halifax. Normally Hereford take plenty of support to the Lawn, but although Halifax is a long journey at least the game is on a Saturday.

The Non-League Paper mentioned the Hereford support in its report on the Stevenage match.

"The sight of Hereford's all-singing, all-dancing fans bouncing out of Broadhall Way said it all - their team had just won a crucial match in the end of season play-off chase."

It must be hoped that they can report the same story from the Lawn and the Shay.
