Jewell defiant after Wigan crash out

After Wigan Athletic's 1-0 defeat against Doncaster Rovers in the LDV Vans Trophy last night, manager Paul Jewell is adamant that his side will not repeat the performance and lose to another Conference side when they play Hereford United in the FA Cup first round on Saturday, kick off 5.35pm.

He told the club's official website: "I'm very disappointed, what can I say, we've been very poor tonight, it was like turning the clock back twelve months. The only good thing about it is that we haven't lost any league points. We didn't deal with this game like we did against Manchester City or the last 17 games or so. If you take the foot of the gas, that's what happens."

"It's disappointing because we didn't look like a team tonight, and people have paid money to watch that, but I've got to be careful and not be to hard on them because they deserve credit for going on a good run. It's a lesson we've got to learn tonight, if we go to Hereford and do the same then we'll get beat."
