Team is blending - Turner
Graham Turner, the Hereford boss, commented on last night's 2-1 win at Woking.
"We had a slice of luck with the first goal and it was probably deemed a turning point," the Bulls boss told strictlyconference.com. "But we have a fairly young side and results like that have begun to give them a bit of belief. There was a lot of changes in the summer and it takes time to gel. But they work hard and are now starting to blend as a team which is showing on the pitch.
"If you looked at the odds in pre-season we were 50/1 to win the Conference," Turner added. "We were rank outsiders and I can understand that. People know about our off field plight it has been well documented. In the last seven years we have spent £20,000 and brought in £500,000. I looked at Yeovil who had Gavin Williams and Michael McIndoe in their side and they are players I would have loved to have kept. But when a big bill comes in we have to sell to pay it."
The poor pitch would have resulted in a postponement had Sky Sports not been present, according to Cards boss Geoff Chapple.
"We had a bit of bad luck with the weather which was horrendous," admitted Chapple to strictlyconference.com. "Quite frankly had it not been live on television the game would probably have been called off. As it was I thought both us and Hereford made it a decent game for the television cameras and unfortunately we were edged out of it. I’ve got to admit we like to play and get it down and we were not able to do it as we would have liked."
