This from the National League:
The National League acknowledges the Independent Football Regulator’s (IFR) draft State of the Game Report and will now take time to review it thoroughly.
The draft Report highlights the significant changes across English league football over the past 35 years, and this is very much the case at the National League level. Alongside the Premier League and EFL, the National League is an integral part of the IFR’s scope and remit, reflecting the significance of the Clubs. We have therefore welcomed the opportunity to comprehensively contribute to the process in order to ensure that our objectives and needs are considered and met.
We welcome the Report as a platform for change for the better. In particular, we note the references to youth development and ensuring all clubs are financially sustainable for fans, owners and communities. We remain strongly committed to these areas and will continue to liaise with relevant stakeholders on these vital aspects of the game.
The widespread backing of the 3UP campaign is also testament to what National League football is now, as are the many successes of clubs in the higher leagues who have been in the National League. Our 72 clubs remain unanimous in their support for this to be established as soon as possible.
