Osborne Set To Return To Alfreton?

When Sam Osborne joined Hereford just before the last pre-season game, the club said it a season long loan.

Hereford FC are delighted to announce that attacking midfielder, Sam Osborne, has joined the club on a season long loan from Alfreton Town.

Alfreton said the same.

The club can confirm that Sam Osborne has joined fellow National League North side Hereford on a season long loan.

Nothing said publically about any re-call in either statement although it is not unusual to have a re-call clause.

However when manager Paul Caddis recently said that six or seven players may be leaving shortly, mainly because loans are up, some supporters started to question whether Osborne would be one of them.

The loanee has been one, if not the best, of Hereford's top players this season to date but was left on the bench for the game against Kidderminster on Boxing Day.

So what could have persuaded Alfreton to recall Osborne? Obviously his recent form will have been noticed.

But a change of manager may also be part of the equation. When the loan deal was done Billy Heath was in charge but he was recently sacked and Jake Buxton is now in charge. May be he feels Osborne would add to his squad.

Another thought is that Alfreton have received an offer for Osborne. Caddis hinted in the Boxing Day interview that there was interest in not only Omari Sterling-James.

On top of that the sponsor of Osborne received a match day shirt from the club just before Christmas.  That doesn't usually happen before a player leaves.

Osborne may be available to play for Hereford at Merthyr tomorrow evening but it looks unlikely he will still be with the club for the following game which just happens to be at Alfreton next Saturday.
