Altrincham have parted company with manager Phil Parkinson who has been in charge for over eight years. It's the eighth managerial change in the National League to date this season. Altrincham are 20th in the table.
When Parkinson arrived Altrincham were in the Northern Premier League after suffering two successive relegations.
But in his first season in charge he guided the club to promotion to the National North League.
Two seasons later they were back in the National League. And they have stayed there ever since.
So what's gone wrong?
This from the Alty Files:
This season (25/26) saw the duo (Parkinson and his assistant Neil Sorvel) confronted by the loss over the summer of their three top scorers, Linney, Newby and Amaluzor, to other clubs, having also lost their top scorer in the previous season as well, when Chris Conn-Clarke departed.
These losses were exacerbated by serious injuries to goalkeeper Ethan Ross, new signing Billy Sass-Davies and his fellow centre-back Jake Cooper, none of whom has yet been fit to start a league match this season.
It was therefore vital that the summer signings in 2025 hit the ground running but their form has often proved to be disappointing, with the club having taking just a single point from its last six league games.
That sequence of five defeats and a single draw was accompanied by four red cards received in three consecutive games, for which none of the new players can be blamed, as all those dismissed had been at the club last season.
Other injuries in 2025/26 included that to captain Lewis Baines, who missed the opening six games, and three-week concussion absences for both centre-back Sam Barnes and goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson.
Recent loanee striker Billy Waters also managed just 17 minutes of league action before he too was injured and returned to his parent club.
In addition to their league travails, there was an unconvincing FA Cup replay win over lower-ranked Harborough Town and this week's exit from the Cheshire Senior Cup at the hands of a club four-levels below them, despite fielding nine first-team squad members in the starting eleven.
In these circumstances the Club has decided to act to try and rescue a season which currently has witnessed ten successive games in which Altrincham have failed to win a single game inside ninety minutes.
