Colin Butler continues his campaign to persuade Herefordshire Council to reconsider their plans for the Merton Meadow car park.
'The council's plan to build on the popular Merton Meadow car park and then provide a multi storey on the bus station is seriously flawed.
They believe that this new car park will help regenerate the area but I don't really think businesses in that area will benefit a lot from the 600 space car park.
Commercial Road is what it is and is populated with busy bars, restaurants and take aways, it doesn't need much regeneration.
The Merton Meadow car park has easy access from both the link road and Blackfriars Street, it also has no height restrictions .
The proposed multi storey would have access on to Commercial Road and at best of times would be difficult to exit.
I pity those football fans and shoppers who try to exit on a weekend, virtually mission impossible! The car park would be a serious waste of millions of council tax money.
With the absence of a park and ride and a decent local bus service the council are in danger of making it more difficult for shoppers and football supporters to come in to Hereford and will put retail jobs at risk.
Keep the parking where its needed !'
