Harriers issue stern warning to their misbehaving fans

Kidderminster Harriers have issued a stern warning to their fans ahead of the Easter bank holiday games, including when Hereford visit on Monday.

In a statement made on Thursday ahead of their game at Rushall Olympic on Good Friday, Harriers said the actions of a minority of people have already resulted in the club facing several FA investigations into the use of flares and other pyrotechnics, encroachments onto the pitch and the throwing of objects.

It said that under FA Rules, a club is responsible for its fans regardless of where a game is played. The club warned that most importantly, "these acts are dangerous to the safety and health of those around it but be in no doubt – it does cost the club".

The statement also said that the FA has within its powers to fine clubs, deduct points from a club and limit the capacity of clubs who fall foul of its rules. "Having games played in empty stadiums with fines incurred and points lost cannot be the aim of any football club, or anyone who supports it," it added.

Fans who commit such offences have been told they are not welcome at Aggborough and have already been banned – some for life.

"At this stage, ahead of another important away game at vital time of the season, we want to make clear: antisocial behaviour is not welcome and will not be tolerated."

After a game against relegated Rushall, Harriers - who sit just one point behind leaders Scunthorpe United - entertain Hereford on Easter Monday.
