To A Man We Were Excellent Said Caddis

Hereford manager Paul Caddis started his second season in charge with an emphatic 3-0 win over South Shields yesterday at Edgar Street.

Afterwards he spoke to the local media.

"I thought to a man we were excellent," said Caddis.

"Really proud of the team, proud of the football club, proud of everyone coming together and a brilliant win.

"But I've just said to the players it's game one of fourty six, but we've got to enjoy that because that was a really impressive victory and it will be one that will probably open a few eyes across the division.

"They are a good side, they are probably the only side we will play against that will play a diamond and play it really well. They are well coached and they are full time. And you could see that in their patterns of play and the type of players they've got. They will cause a lot of problems this year for a lot of teams.

"They caused us problems at times, they've Blackett who is a ridiculous goal scorer at this level last year and I think he'll be right uo there again. He's a top player, really sharp.

"They are a really good team, they'll cause a lot of problems but today they were just up against us.

"We had a game plan and the patience from the support was really appreciated. We knew we just had to try and smother the middle of the pitch and we did it really well."

Hereford's first goal came from a mistake.

"Just a slack pass from the full back and Monty gets in and finishes.

"I thought Monty and Willo were excellent. Monty is extremely strong. And right through we defended really well and got a clean sheet. Everyone played their part.

"We're really pleased with the victory, we'll just look to the next one now."
