A 3-0 win in his first league game as Hereford captain delighted Lewis Hudson.
"Amazing, it was a fantastic win today," said Hudson.
"Really tough in the first ten/fifteen minutes, make no mistake South Shields are a really good side and they caused us some problems, Aaron Chapman has made some really good saves early on.
"When you get that win first game as captain, it's a special feeling for this club."
A clean sheet as well.
"We want to keep clean sheets, we want to keep as many as we can this season. Such a good feeling after ninety minutes to have got that clean sheet.
"First fifteen minutes, credit to them as they were late off the bus, they got here at 2.15pm, they way they came out was really sharp.
"We had to be patient, had to make saves at times, had to make blocks.
"But we were ruthless in attack, we took our three chances really well and it could have been a few more second half.
"All the front players did well, Montel is a handful, he battles for every single ball.
"It was great to have Ceesay back, he was lively.
"Willo does what Willo does, he's always part of the game, he always scores goals, he's done well.
"Lawson, you can see when we miss him at times his experience in the middle of the park. It sometimes goes unnoticed the simple job that he does.
"Tate has been fantastic since he's come in. For a young lad he shows a lot of experience."
A couple of players were missing, Matwasa and Tilt.
"They are both injured, not badly injured, they got a couple of knocks. (It's understood they collided in training last Thursday evening). They give us an outlet in the wide areas.
"It's a credit to the staff how well they have recruited. Our squad is as strong however plays.
"You are going to need every player so we all need our part and we'll be happy when we get them back as well."
