Chorley defend decision not to segregate fans after 'antisocial behaviour'

Chorley have apologised for the 'u
nfortunate and anti-social behaviour' at the game against Hereford, also defending their decision to not enforce segregation.

During the 1-1 draw, watched by 1,300, a scuffle broke out behind one of the goals.

In a statement, the club's chief operating officer Craig Dootson said the club take "immense pride in fostering a family-friendly environment where our supporters can enjoy the game in a positive and welcoming atmosphere".

They "deeply regret that this standard was not fully upheld".

Because of an anticipated low gate, which actually turned out to be 220 higher than last season's average, he said the club made the decision to not segregate the match.

"A decision made with the intent of promoting unity and shared enjoyment of the game," he said.

"Regrettably, the actions of a few have marred this experience for many. Please be assured that we will take every necessary step to ensure such scenes are not repeated in any future matches and, where needed, segregation is key to this."
