The change, in force from this season, has not seen the number of players named on the bench rise to seven though, as has been the case in the National League.
Caddis cheekily admitted that it's a good thing when you're winning - and did make all five subs in the 3-0 win over South Shields - but perhaps not when you're losing.
Speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester after the game, he said: "I'll be honest, it's alright when you're winning but it's probably really frustrating when you're losing a game and you want to try and build momentum.
"But that's the rules, you've got to try and use them to the best you can.
"We just felt it was a really warm day today as well, we just wanted to try and get as many players on the pitch as we could. Everyone made an impact, everyone played their part."
Compared to the start of last season where a make-shift side draw 2-2 at King's Lynn, most of Hereford's squad were fit and available for selection this afternoon.
"We know we've got a strong squad and there's going to be players who miss out one week and might start the next week," Caddis said.
"I've got a different challenge this year in trying to keep everyone pleased, keep everyone on their toes and ready for the next game.
"I'd much rather that challenge than trying to find an XI."
