Sonny Shines

Sonny Singh

About three hundred people watched the Bulls first pre season match against Westfields at Lads Club. Westfields fan park was well organised and successful. Both teams made multiple changes and friendlies do not reflect real matches. Cowley is never friendly to defenders and played with his usual vigour. The game was fairly even in the first half but the Bulls dominated the second half and a third goal would have been a more accurate reflection of the game.

Aaron Chapman

Little was learnt about giant goalkeeper Chapman who looks like he would be pretty handy on a basketball court the way he bounces a ball. Hereford started with three at the back, Howkins the central defensive pivot. Derricott played on the right side and in the second half as a more orthodox right back. For those concerned about the lack of a centre back signing, he continues to do little wrong and after a successful loan last season looks ready for extended first team action.

Jack Tolley

There were returns from last season. Sadly Lyden was again injured on plastic and hopefully will recover quickly. Tolley did not stand out but did nothing wrong. Singh played his best game in a white shirt. He roamed around midfield in second half looking a complete midfielder. He got his foot in, a soft shoe shuffle almost saw him into the box, but was beautiful skill. He tried a range of passing which whilst it did not always come off broke the lines and pushed Westfields back.

Lawson D'Ath

Singh was partly able to do this because D’Ath quietly did the dirty work. He rarely wastes the ball, reads the game and holds the positions which frustrate the other sides. Lots of the less noticed work which enables others to flourish.

Cosmos Matwasa

My god Matwasa is muscular. The calves of Jack Grealish and the thighs of Simon Brain. Well organised Westfields knew to be wary quickly doubling up on him to combat his pace. He consistently got down the right and put in a succession of crosses. It was no surprise when a Cosmos cross was converted by Williams just before the break.

Williams looked a class above with his touch, control and ghosting into space. I am glad he is so old or he would be off to play at a higher level! For Westfields Harrison Summers showed up best.

Alex Babos

Babos came on in the second half and treated the fans to several clever touches and a constant desire to get forward. One of the youngsters either Rhodes or Crump came on for the last ten minutes or so and showed some nice flashes out on the left and a little devilment winning the ball back. Hopefully more will be seen of them.

Adam Rooney Seals Hereford's Victory

Rooney had worked the Westfields back line hard and got his reward near the end when he was found in acres of space. He looked around, took his time and hammered home across Blackburn to better reflect the Bulls dominance.
