News round up

Tom Hewlett

Tom Hewlett, who had a spell on loan at Edgar Street last season, has turned down a contract extension at Burton Albion to join step three Poole Town. The Southern League Premier Division South club's manager Steve Tully said 22-year-old Hewlett wanted to move back home to Bournemouth so signing him was a "no-brainer".

Hewlett, who had been at Burton since he was 11 and signed his first professional deal in 2020, said he jumped at the opportunity, adding: "The challenge really excites me and I’m really looking forward to playing under a manager who has such pedigree and the direction the club is heading is something I really want to be a part of.”

Jordan Cranston has signed for Redditch. The former Hereford left back had a loan spell with them last season. He said 'Happy to be back, enjoyed my time here last season now time to kick on.'

Forest Green chairman and Green Energy 'Tycoon' Dale Vince has given £5M to the Labour Party.
