Welcome to a new series that starting with their maiden Football League season in 1972-73 will feature many of the HUFC matchday programmes. To kick things off however we delve into the season before and a certain FA Cup match against Newcastle United. This match is credited more than any other with getting Hereford United into the football league, however as this series will demonstrate that is a little harsh on everything else that was happening during what was surely the most exciting and dynamic period in Hereford football history. United were a club that had been on the march for several years with 5000+ league gates at Edgar Street the norm combined with so many developments happening off the pitch.
