Paul Caddis felt his side was on top for the majority of the game against league leaders Tamworth yesterday but despite that the result was a 0-0 draw.
"I'm so proud of the players," said the Hereford manager.
"I think we were well on top for the majority of the game.
"I thought we created some really good openings but it was one of those days where the first three real chances came to centre half Kyle Howkins.
"I thought we dealt with there long throws.
"I told the players before the game it was all about your mindset, all about your mentality because they will slow the game down and unfortunately we didn't have a strong enough referee to back that up.
"Really pleased deep down but disappointed we didn't win the game, really pleased with the performance."
For the second game running Caddis was without wingers Yusifu Ceesay and Tope Obadeyi so Lewis Hudson and Ollie Skinner moved up.
"Huddy and Skins are two complete machines, they are really fit, they get up and down the pitch, they get up the pitch as they get back.
"We had to just go with that, we felt that with the three centre halves as well with their long throws we could deal with that better. I don't think they caused us many problems to be honest.
"I thought in possession we were really good.
"But there's a reason they've kept a lot of clean sheets, they defend their box really well, they play in a way which I respect. They play in a way which they keep the ball away from the box, they take long throw ins, they take a age to do it and if allowed to do it that's exactly what happens.
"It wouldn't (have annoyed me) if we hadn't had the conversation with the referee beforehand.
"Every single match day beforehand we have a paticular conversation about throw-ins, speeding things up, yea,yea I'll deal with it.
"Did he deal with it, I don't think so.
"He's booked myself and their manager for an explanation we are still waiting for. I really don't know.
"I'm guilty of getting a bit passionate at times but in that instance I don't know if it was people behind me and people behind their manager who were getting a bit irate with some of the decisions.
"So I think he's booked the two of us after ten minutes as well.
"Some decisions were baffling but let's not talk about the referee, let's talk about the players and how well they dealt with a team who are twelve points ahead at the top of the table.
"We were really dominant to be honest."
