Hereford are in the final of the HFA County Challenge Cup having defeated Wellington on penalties last night at the Kensal Ground
Manager Paul Caddis was not at the game, he was unwell, so Under 18 manager Zeke Vivian took charge.
It had already been decided that no senior players would take part in the game so it was down to the Under 18's.
Given the recent weather the pitch was in reasonable condition, the six yard boxes in particular were not badly marked.
Wellington started the stronger and kept keeper Shay Sterry on his toes.
In the 12th minute Wellington took the lead. Former Hereford youth player Freddie Fox with the goal.
Both sides had chances, Hereford might have equalised when the ball was within a yard or so from the goal line and the keeper stranded.
The home side had the better of the first half. Their more physical approach to the game saw several Hereford players clattered.

A ball down the right hand side reached striker Teddy Mee and with the keeper approaching Mee swept the ball into the net.
Wellington created a few more chances but Sterry was equal to everything that came towards him.
