Hereford defender tells of valuable loan at Bromsgrove

Young Hereford defender Mark Derricott has said his spell at Bromsgrove has been really good so far, going in under recently appointed boss Tim Flowers.

Hereford boss Paul Caddis said he's not looking to recall the young defender as he needs regular football to aid his development - and his counterpart at Sporting is pleased.

Flowers, who replaced former Bulls midfielder Mike McGrath at the helm in February, is best known for his career as a keeper for Blackburn Rovers, Southampton and England.

The prospect of a loan at the step three side was something Derricott was excited about, he told Park Life Sport.

Derricott admitted that an injury meant it has been difficult to get minutes since the loan - on a month-by-month basis - started in February.

"I can't expect, like I said, to just come back into the squad straight away, especially as we have been doing so well," he said.

"It's not something you can complain about either. All you want is the best for the team, for the football club.

"It's been really valuable I think so far, I've only had three games as of yet, but even in those games I think I've done well."

He said that he already knew some players at Bromsgrove, having played against them and been with them during pre-season trials, which has made the transition easier.

"Just gaining minutes and some valuable time in men's football," he said.
