Southport manager Jim Bentley thought Hereford's first goal didn't look over the line and in any case he felt his defenders should have cleared it.
"It didn't look like it," said Bentley.
"He's (Linesman) on this side, Chris's body is in that way.
"Sometimes you've got to look at the crowd's reaction.
"It didn't look like it was in, it's a big shout.
"It gave them a little bit of momentum, it kicks you in the teeth a little bit.
"The lead up to the goal is my criticism whether it was or it wasn't a goal.
"We cleared our lines, it was one big pump back into the box, we had three centre-halves there, we've got to keep it.
"It shouldn't be bouncing before it goes in and that's my criticism."
