We Were Beaten By The Better Team said Johnson

Torquay manager Gary Johnson admitted in his post match interview that his side had been beaten by the better team.

Johnson who appears under pressure didn't go to the 200 plus Torquay supporters after the game.

"The only words you can say really is we were beaten by the better team on the day," he said.

"Hereford deserved their route into the next round of the FA Trophy.

"We're all disappointed, we got this far.

"We certainly didn't do enough so we congratulate them.

"We're sorry for the poor performance and when we can we'll do something about it.

Hereford's two goals came from a free kick and a penalty. There should have been a third but the referee thought the ball had gone out of play. Video from close by suggested the ball had remained in play.

Had Johnson got a view on the penalty?

"No, until we watch it on the bus when we're going home.

"It looked like a penaly to me, he got caught out.

"They put us under pressure pretty early and they got a couple of goals.

"It was a great free kick and a penalty.

"They deserved it with their play, we were never in the game until may be part of the second half when we had to get forward a little bit more.

"We had to put a couple of lads who are not normally forwards up there just to be big so we could at least compete and get into their half.

"We had a few corners, in the end they were poor, we didn't find our man, so it still wasn't great.

"We tried to get into their half to create a few more opportunities but we did we didn't do enough."
