Scunthorpe recall Pugh from Hereford loan spell

Midfielder Tom Pugh has been recalled from his loan at Hereford.

Parent club Scunthorpe United said the 23-year-old Doncaster-born player, who has also been capped for Wales U21s, has made 68 appearances for the Iron so far in all competitions.

Formerly of Leeds United, he came through our Iron academy where he was skipper, with the tenacious midfielder being restricted to just four substitute appearances so far this season following an injury sustained in pre-season.

In his first month out on loan at Edgar Street, Tom made seven appearances (five starts, two from the bench), scoring one goal and adding one assist, along with man of the match accolades.

That loan spell was extended for a further month in December, the midfielder has made a further six appearances for the Bulls, fast becoming a fans' favourite.

A 24-hour recall was part of the agreement for Pugh's loan to be extended until the end of the season and without it, Bulls boss Paul Caddis said the deal would not have happened.

Caddis told the official website: "It’s credit to Pughy that his form has been such that Scunthorpe now want him back."

Pugh is starting for Scunthorpe tonight as they travel to strugglers Darlington.

Update: Pugh didn't play last night as the game was postponed 40 minutes before kick-off.

'Thank you to everyone @ Hereford FC during my time at the club. Great club, great fans, and I thoroughly enjoyed the loan spell. All the best for the future!'
