Hereford's fifth signing in eight days revealed - a new left-back who is full of energy

Hereford have now been able to announce their new signing, left-back Lewis Hudson from Rushall Olympic.

He was at Edgar Street for last night's 3-0 defeat against South Shields after the club made a seven-day approach, and is the fifth signing in eight days after Collins Tanor, Maziar Kouhyar, Camron McWilliams and Kieran Phillips.

When the 25-year-old made the move from Redditch United, Rushall said he had "established himself as one of the best full-backs at step three".

"He has grabbed the challenge in the Vanarama National League North with both hands and has been a consistent figure in our back-line," the club said in November.

Manager Liam McDonald, who had Hudson in his team when they were beaten 1-0 by Hereford last week, also said in November that he was a long-time admirer of Hudson before signing him.

“Lewis was easily the best left-back in our division last season at Redditch United,” he told the club's website.

“I had him on my radar for a couple of seasons and have always admired his style of play and attitude.

“He brings plenty of pace and energy to the team and is fantastic at 1v1 defending.”

He has signed a deal until the end of next season and Bulls boss Paul Caddis had hoped to get it over the line before last night's defeat but was not able to.

After signing for the Dales Lane club, their first of the summer in 2023, Hudson said players always look to improve themselves and the move was a challenge he was looking forward to.

“I’m a full-back who is full of energy and looks to get up and down the left-hand side of the pitch as much as possible,” he told the club's website.

“I’ll definitely add to our already strong defence whilst getting forward to support the attack at the same time.

“I want to help the club make its mark in the Vanarama National League North. I was pleased with my form last season and hopefully I can continue it here at the higher level and repay the faith that the club has showed in me.”
