The match at Scarborough earlier this month was one of those to be streamed |
This season, midweek matches have been streamed, as well as Saturday afternoon games which fall on international breaks or similar due to UEFA rules.
This decision to stream matches on National League TV was made following a number of test events last March that were deemed to have proved an appetite for streaming National League North and South matches.
But the league said sadly, the demand for streaming this season for National League North and South matches has not been enough to warrant the continuation of the streaming provision in its current guise.
There have been questions raised over the quality of the streaming, which has cost £9.50 a day. When Hereford played Scarborough earlier this month, the first 15 minutes of the match was plagued with problems rendering it unwatchable. Then, on Tuesday at Rushall, there was no commentary to accompany the video.
The changes outlined below will allow the League to provide fewer games but apply more focus on those selected games and ensure a high-quality stream is provided.
What is changing?
From the beginning of February, the number of National League North and South games will be significantly reduced – however, selected fixtures will continue to be streamed and will be selected on a round-by-round basis. These will be communicated to fans in advance of the fixture and these fixtures will still be available both domestically and internationally.
There is no change for streaming provision in the National division.
When will games be streamed?
On ‘full’ matchdays – fixtures will be selected from each division. Remaining ‘full’ matchdays are on the following dates:
- Tuesday 20 February
- Tuesday 9 March
- Saturday 23 March (International Break)
- Friday 29 March (Good Friday)
- Monday 1 April (Easter Monday)
Fixtures not on these dates that have been rearranged will be reviewed to assess their viability for streaming.
I have purchased a Season Pass – am I entitled to a refund?
Any supporters who have purchased a Season Pass and selected a National League North or South team as their selected team will be entitled to a pro-rata refund if they wish.
If you wish to request a refund please email nationalleaguelive@streamamg.com.
Will anything change next season?
Streaming provision for the National League North and South is under continual review between now and the conclusion of the current season. Any announcements about streaming for next season will be made in time for the new season.
