We're Delighted In The Dressing Room Said Downing

Hereford defender Paul Downing told the local media after yesterday's 1-0 win at Bishop's Stortford that the squad were delighted with the victory.

"Any win away from home is important," said Downing.

"We've felt like we've needed to improve away from home so to pick three points up today against a team fighting for their lives on a difficult pitch we're delighted in the dressing room.

"Every person in the team did their job today.

"We had to be resilant, hard to beat at times and one moment of quality won us the game. Good all round team performance.

"We're starting to get players back fit so there's a strong squad here now, we're pushing each other day in day out in training.

"We've felt this period a chance for us to really cement ourselves and keep going up the league.

"We've felt we've put in good performances consistantly apart from the Scunthorpe game where we let ourselves down.

"We always give teams a game and we've picked up some good results.

"We're strong at homes and more wins like today we'll be in a good position."

Downing is having a good run in the side.

"I'm enjoying my football, have a good relationship with the manager and have got to know the players.

"We've got a good bunch in there.

"I think we can keep getting better, today we probably should have scored one or two more goals if we are being critical.

"We've left a few people at home so we know that you've got to be on your toes and keep producing performances to remain in the team."
