Another home draw as Hereford set to face former Football League side in FA Trophy

Hereford at the FA Trophy final in 2021
Hereford will play Torquay United at home in the fourth round of the FA Trophy.

It'll be the ninth straight home draw for Hereford in cup competitions this season and it'll be against the side they last played in League Two 11 years ago.

At Edgar Street on May 5, the two sides went head to head as the Bulls tried to avoid relegation from League Two.

But United were relegated from League Two despite beating Torquay 3-2, who just missed out on automatic promotion.

Now a National League South side after relegation from non-league's top flight last season, Torquay lie fourth with 37 points from 21 games.

The FA Trophy tie will be played on Saturday 13th January, meaning the home game against South Shields will be moved to midweek. That's a 10-hour, 528-mile round trip for the Tyne and Wear side.

In the second round, Hereford picked up £3,750 for beating Redbridge 4-1 at home before getting past South Park 1-0 in the third round. For that, the Bulls picked up £4,500.

For the fourth round, winning clubs at this stage picking up £5,250 from the competition prize fund and losing clubs collecting £1,500. A win would also see the Bulls reach the last 16 of the competition, having previously reached the final at Wembley in the Covid curtailed 2020-21 season.

Hereford have already had four home draws in the FA Cup this season before being knocked out by League Two Gillingham in the first round proper. They've also had two in the Herefordshire FA County Challenge Cup, with the next tie tomorrow (Tuesday) against Tenbury United.

Along with the three home draws in the FA Trophy, it means this is the ninth straight home draw for the club.
