Hereford captain Paul Downing spoke about yesterday's game at Farsley Celtic and admitted that it wasn't pretty.
No goals and a difficult surface didn't help.
"It wasn't pretty," said Downing.
"We kind of knew that so we set up a bit more solid today.
"The lads dug in and we're pleased to get a clean sheet.
"It was hard work but we move on now to Tuesday night.
"I think we had to respect the conditions, the pitch is difficult to play football on so we had to adapt our game and play a different formation and do the ugly side of the game which I think everyone did.
"People probably think that Hereford, we play nice football but that shows we can do the other side of the game which is important especially over the next few months when the weather and the pitches aren't the best.
"You are going to come against all types in this division, people who are full time and play different ways.
"I think we are trying to keep ourselves in amongst it and try and stay consistant.
"We've got a run of home games now and we're in pretty good form.
"Just look to the next game and keep trying to pick up as many points as possible.
"We couldn't play any passes today, we knew the game plan was to get it forward and maybe when we were in their half to have one or two passes before crossing it.
"But it was difficult to control the ball and we didn't want to take any risks so that was the best way to play today."
