Dale Eve has joined Walsall Wood
Former Hereford keeper Dale Eve has signed for a step four club, dropping down a tier to join up again with manager Ian Long.
Long, whose second stint at the helm at Alvechurch ended after a heavy 5-2 defeat against Halesowen Town in the FA Cup, had been announced as Walsall Wood's new boss.
The West Midlands side are newcomers to the Pitching In Northern Premier League - Midlands having been promoted from the Midlands Football League at step five last season.
And now former Bulls stopper Eve, one of several keepers to appear between the sticks for Hereford last season, has left Alvechurch to join Long at Walsall Wood.
He only signed for the Church in the summer after leaving Edgar Street, where he made 14 appearances. He was invited back for pre-season training by Paul Caddis but never played any pre-season friendlies and it's unclear whether he did report for training.Walsall Wood manager Ian Long
After young keeper Shay Sterry featured initially, Curtis Pond then arrived.
Announcing the signing, Walsall Wood said: "The newest signature to arrive in under Ian Long is the experienced NLN and International keeper."
He played his first match on Saturday, a 1-1 draw against Coventry Sphinx.
Last season's goalkeeping coach Neil Reeves also joined Long at Alvechurch in the summer and he remains there despite the change of manager.
Alvechurch may well be disappointed by Eve's decision to move on seeing as they described the Bermudan international's signing as a "major coup".
Eve also spent time at Bedford Town, Stourport Swifts and Hanley Town on dual-registration terms while at Hereford.
