Now at National League South side Chippenham Town following a disappointing season at Kidderminster Harriers after leaving Edgar Street, TOE helped his side through to the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
It went to penalties, but Chippenham beat Basingstoke and now face National League North side Gloucester City in the next round.
He's been injured for several months and after a misdiagnosis of his leg injury, he said in September that he had fractured his fibula, despite an X-ray being done nine weeks prior.
Now back on the pitch, after Saturday's win he tweeted: "Feels good to be back! First competitive start in over eight months. Great character shown from the boys, into the hat for the next round."
His manager Gary Horgan, who signed TOE along with fellow former Bulls Aaron Amadi-Holloway and Luke Haines in the summer, said when asked about TOE's start: "Fantastic. We wanted some outcomes out of today, one was to go through and we've achieved that and also to get some of the lads who were returning some minutes if we could.
"One of those was definitely TOE, he played on Monday for the 23s and managed to get 55/60 minutes there. We need to get some minutes in football in because he's one of those that can unlock defences.
"He's good in the 10, he's good when he comes off the side, so we need to get him back to playing his best football and that will take a tiny bit of time.
"But I see, I think you see, little glimpses today of that and in a couple of weeks, we'll see the best of him."
Owen-Evans had a spell on loan with Chippenham Town while at Hereford. He spent four seasons with the Bulls before heading to Aggborough, where he failed to make an impact.
He scored for the Bulls in their 3-1 loss in the 2021 FA Trophy final at Wembley against Hornchurch and was the club's top goalscorer across all competitions in the 2018–19 and 2021–22 seasons.
Next up for Chippenham is a home game in the league against former Football League side Yeovil Town.
