Gillingham were defeated by Newport at home yesterday.
Next Saturday Hereford play Gillingham in the FA Cup.
After yesterday's game interim manager Keith Millen spoke to the media.
"At half time you could see the lads were down, a little bit in shock I think the way the game had gone.
"But I did feel if we had got our composure back and tried to play like I wanted us to play we would create more chances.
"The second half instead of fighting and really going for it we seemed to lose a little bit of belief, a little bit of energy and in the end the game just drifted away.
"We made changes, we tried to freshen it up. Whether we were a little bit tired or not I don't know.
"What I didn't like I saw too many players walking, I didn't see enough desire.
"We didn't show enough desire to go for it, enough movement or certainly not enough quality.
"I don't know where some of that passing came from, it's certainly nothing we've worked on.
"I disappointed with the players and their lack of quality when we needed it."
