Connor Stanley’s dipping shot after Adam Rooney’s late penalty was saved earned Hereford a 1-0 win over Darlington in front of a large Edgar Street crowd.
Hereford had the better opportunities in the first half, while Darlington pressurised more in the second.
The Bulls had a golden opportunity to take the lead on 87 minutes when Rooney stepped up, but his spot kick was pushed away. In the subsequent move, Stanley struck to give Hereford the lead.
More than 3,000 watched as the Bulls held strong in eleven minutes of injury time, with manager Paul Caddis visibly energised throughout.
