Scunthorpe United have taken an unusual step in lifting all club-issued fan bans.

Effective immediately, the club said it was offering the amnesty ahead of the new season.

"This is a second chance to many individuals, but there will not be a third chance," a statement said.

"The repercussions of taking advantage of this second chance will be severe and the club will be taking a zero-tolerance policy going forwards."

The club will be in the National League North this season after relegation from non-league's top flight.

"We want Glanford Park to be a safe and enjoyable place to come and watch the Iron play and that will always be our main priority," they added.

"We also understand that a handful of supporters who are on club bans were issued them when they were much younger and have presented their eagerness to prove that they can attend matches without causing anti-social behaviour.

"As proven in the past, any supporter who causes anti-social behaviour, puts any other supporters at risk, or whose actions risk incurring penalties towards the club from the Football Association, or other governing bodies, will be removed from the stadium once identified and issued relevant punishments.

"Any bans issued from Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 onwards will be stringently adhered to. Should any supporter previously banned take advantage of this second chance, the ban issued could be up to and including a lifetime one, both home and away. To reiterate, our policy going forward is zero tolerance.

"We hope giving people a second chance will encourage people to respect the club and their fellow supporters moving forward."

The club confirmed the amnesty does not apply to any court-issued bans.
