Four Goals At Nuneaton For Hereford

Hereford played their third pre-season friendly last night at Nuneaton.

In some ways it was a game of two halves. No goals in the first half but several chances for Hereford along with some good defending.

All of a sudden early in the second half Hereford were 3-0 ahead. Then the Bulls appeared to lose their momentum and one could sense Nuneaton might score.

They did but the Bulls added another near the end and so won the game 4-1.

Manager Paul Caddis decided to mix signed players with trialists in both halves. However there was a stronger looking back line in the first half compared with the second.

Adam Rooney captained the side for the first 45 minutes.

Hereford kicked off and both sides looked quite aggressive from the first minute. Several strong challenges were noted by the referee.

After ten minutes or so a very heavy thundery shower.

After it cleared Hereford had a useful spell, Nathan Cameron with a header.

Jordan Cranston placed several corners well into the box.

But Nuneaton defended well.

On 31 minutes Hereford Curtis Pond was called into action when Charles launched a shot which looked like it was going in at the far post. Pond managed to get a hand to it.

Hereford had a free kick when Cranson was bundled over. The left winger took the kick but it was just wide.

Just before the break Rooney might have opening the scoring for Hereford but his effort from a corner was well saved.

Hereford were unlucky not to be ahead at half time.

Wholesale changes by Caddis including a trialist keeper took to the pitch for the second half. And it wasn't long before Hereford went ahead.

Lassana Mendes crossed the ball into the box and it glanced in off a Nuneaton's Rowe-Turner.

Hereford's secong goal came just three minutes later, a solo effort from a trialist thought to be Koby Arthur.

Then a third ten minutes later.

Jason Cowley was impeded in the box by former Hereford player Bilal Yafai  and the striker converted the penalty and opened his account. However despite three goals in thirteen minutes, Hereford didn't look as comfortable in defence as in the first period.

The home side created a few half chances and on 79 minutes scored.

A shot from the left appeared to hit the far post and rebounded out straight to Victor Nirennold who made no mistake from six or so yards.

Failing to keep a clean sheet was a disappointment but for the last ten minutes it was all Hereford.

And they got their reward with a couple of minutes remaining when Ollie Southern scored with a powerful header.
