Andy Williams being helped off the pitch on Saturday by physio James Hughes and Jason Cowley |
Hereford FC have said they still don't know the extent of Andy Williams's injury.
The striker, who rejoined the club this summer after 14 years away, was shouting in pain at Edgar Street on Saturday as he went down.
He was replaced by Adam Rooney in the club's 2-0 pre-season friendly win against West Brom's under-21s.
But there has been little information about the 36-year-old's injury.
Today, the club said he will have a scan on Friday to find out the full extent of his injury – the results will be reviewed by a specialist and should be known by the middle of the next week.
There is currently no timeframe for how long he may be out, and the club said they hope it is not as bad as first feared.
Rumours swirling on social media suggest it could be an anterior cruciate ligament injury and that would mean a long spell on the sidelines.
On the other hand, it could be a medial ligament strain which would mean short spell out.
For now, all supporters can do is wait to see what the injury is and how fast – or slow – recovery could be.
