Joanie Roberts's election statement:

I am an Experienced Director and a strong professional with a wealth of experience in the Customer Service Industries and totally conversant with a range of differing sized Member Organisations including a keen understanding of Strategic Planning to deliver effective communication across all levels of a business. Skilled in Networking, Negotiation, Business Planning, Mindset Coach, Public Speaking and Live Event Producer, plus Social Media Marketing. I currently run my own business supporting small businesses/charities to build solid business strategies and structure their commercial and media presence, raising their profile. This includes coaching of quality networking and digital marketing skills to see the vision for their business and manage and deliver on their goals. I also work with the Community Transformation Team within Herefordshire Mind.

I have experience in grassroots football with my voluntary work as both the Fundraising & PR Director of Hereford United Supporters' Trust, Media Director of Hereford FC and INED for Herefordshire FA. I am also Vice Chair of both the IAG (Inclusion Advisory Group) and Women's Development League for our county FA. All of these align a deep understanding of the football fans needs and challenges. I hold certificates in FA Safeguarding for Committee Members, The FA Safeguarding Children and in Community Organising. I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider. Having previously held the position of Area Relationship Manager (Business Development) for Herefordshire for H&W Chamber of Commerce, supporting and connecting businesses, developing strong relationships, facilitating and hosting events, I understand the value of effective network opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity as I believe I have the relevant skills and experience to offer to the FSA, in understanding the value and importance of effective communication strategies to build a quality community and solid brand of distinction. Being a Director of a Football Club also gives me an unparalleled insight into the dynamics of football and the people involved, particularly as there are a significant number of volunteers involved, of which I am one.
