What does the future hold for Yeovil Town FC given that the proposed take over by 'SU Glovers' collapsed yesterday.
Yeovil are set to play in the National South League next season.
On top of that staff were not paid last Friday.
The club issued a statement: “It is highly regrettable that the staff at Yeovil Town Football Club have not been paid today. The transaction for the sale and purchase of the club has not been completed, but the staff will be on Tuesday irrespective of a transaction being concluded or not.”
Somehow staff were paid yesterday.
SU Glovers which is headed by Matt Uggla seemed intent on buying the club as late as Sunday.
“SU have been working tirelessly since December 2022 to get the purchase of the club over the line. SU has been funding the club in good faith since December 2022. We have every intention of buying Yeovil Town FC, we are led to believe this will happen next week, at which stage we will ensure funding is injected into the club to ensure its success.
“We have put in £430k to date and the funds are being managed by the club. To reassure everyone, it has been an incredibly complex deal but we feel confident that we are now in agreement to move forward and get the club back to where it should be.”
But yesterday SU pulled out.
"We really tried our best to get this deal done but it just wasn’t to be. Just want to thank all the fans who stood by us through this whole process and were so kind and welcoming."
So where does Yeovil go from here. There's little doubt owner Scott Priestnall wants out. He is being blamed by supporters for the mess.
And manager Mark Cooper must be in a very difficult situation with little money to select a squad for next season.
Administration looks a possibility.
