John Snape was a midfielder with Hereford United over 20 years ago.
In an interview with the Birmingham Post in 2007 he remembered his time at the then Conference Club.
Snape, pictured by Nigel Hill, switched to Hereford United in July 1998 and admitted it was a difficult
time.
"The club was in financial trouble when Graham
Turner took over. Yet the supporters were very demanding. They wanted
Hereford back in the Football League and we found ourselves under
tremendous pressure at times.
"As a result, it was difficult for us to get-together all the time, so Graham's assistant Phil Robinson used to arrange for us to go training at Oldbury United.
"I'd be there with people like Matty Clarke, Matt Gardiner, Steve Piearce, Scott Cooksey and Rob Elmes.
"We had some great times. I'll never forget holding Leicester City to a 0-0 draw in front of a packed Edgar Street crowd.
"It was a fabulous atmosphere when the crowd got behind you.
"My one biggest regret at Hereford was failing to reach the FA Trophy Final.
"We got knocked out by local rivals Forest Green Rovers in the semi-finals. That was a bad day!"
