Gowling Reacts To Chants That He's Getting Sacked In The Morning

During his post match interview at Kidderminster, Hereford manager Josh Gowling was asked about chants about him which were heard before Hereford equalised in the second half.

The chants had included 'Gowling's getting sacked in the morning'.

It should be noted that the chants were from sections of the crowd, by no means everyone.

He was asked how he reacted 'to that'.

"I don't," said Gowling.

"I just carry on with my job. I've got a job to do of picking up points and moving us up the table.

“Look pressure is privilege. I think when I took over this football club we were nowhere near the position we are in now, the club is financially better off.

"But when we have put in performances over a period of time now, that is not acceptable.

“The fans are not happy with it and that's because over the last couple of years we have put in performances that have raised the bar at this football club.

"So I understand when you go five games without a win, fans aren't going to be happy. We've been on worse runs by the way.

“It is my job now to build that trust back and if they feel they don’t have that trust with me at the moment that is fine. I've got no problem, I've got big shoulders. We will carry on, push forward and work hard.

“We've worked hard this week. The players have had a big smile on their face with what has been going on in the last eight weeks. They've come in and trained hard every day.

"I've worked hard, I love this football club and I'll do everything I can to make sure we get where we need to go.

“We will be better than we were last year and we will finish higher than we did last year.

"If they are not going to stick with us for now, that’s fine, but we will keep going and we'll go from strength to strength and prove some people wrong.

"It is what it is, I know what football fans are. Our football fans want the best. They want to win games and when you don't win games they are not happy and they will let you know.

"And that's the pressure of being at a football club like Hereford and the lads have to understand that.

"I understand it and I'll take it on my back and I'll ignore it and I'll push people on and I'll do the right things to make sure we get points and win games of football."
