After this afternoon's game at Edgar Street, Hereford's man of the match Jack Holmes spoke to the local media.
"Yes it was a good game," said Holmes.
"I was looking personally for a good performance so I can try and get myself back in the side.
"I was happy that the Gaffer picked me today to start and I'm happy I've backed it with a performance but a disappointing result really for how we played.
"I thought for the majority of the game we were the better side, played the better football, but it just didn't fall for us in the final third, in the last moments, but you could tell that the crowd enjoyed how we played because they were behind us for a lot of the game which was nice."
Holmes has not had a consistant run in the side as he's been cup-tied.
"I played the first two games then the FA Cup started and I found myself out of the team. The lads had played well in the FA Cup so I couldn't get myself back in the team.
"I've had to be patient and I'm sure I will throughout the season. People will be in and out, chopping and changing, I've just got to take my chance when I get it. I played well today and I was happy with that."
Aaron Amadi-Holloway led the line today.
"We had a couple of quick wingers (Holmes and Storey) played off him which was nice because he's reliable up front. We could just try and play off him which worked at times, didn't work at times but that's just how it is in the game.
"It's good to have him up front because he's strong, he'll do some of the dirty work for you and let us play off."
There was quite a lot of time wasting by Darlington.
"It got worse and worse as the game went on. They knew exactly what they were doing but I guess we would do the same in the situation to see the three points.
"It's very annoying, frustrating but you could see why they do it. The crowd were getting frustrated as the game went on."
