First Darlington Win At Hereford For 26 Years

This afternoon's 2-1 win for Darlington over Hereford was their first victory at Edgar Street for 26 years.

"It's an unbelievable win when you look at it," said Darlington manager Alun Armstrong.

"It's a tough place to come. They beat Fylde here.

"They are a difficult team to come up against, they've got really good players and Josh has got them playing some decent football."

Hereford scored the first goal of the game.

"What I loved was the determination to bounce back and that second half defensive performance once we got our noses in front was outstanding."

Armstrong felt Hereford shouldn't have scored their goal

"Sloppy but it came from a throw that should have been ours. The linesman has given it their way when he could not even see. It should have been our throw.

"But we didn't react to it. Every goal you concede is poor.

"Just speaking to Josh, the goals that they conceded were poor. That's the nature of the beast.

"I'm delighted with the win today."

Jack Lambert tried to catch the Hereford keeper out with a long range lob which hit the bar.

"I think everyone thought it was in as soon as he hit it. It was the only thing we did in the first half!  He deserved a goal.

"But we got the goal from it, Ben's great finish. But they were the better team in the first half."

Darlington went ahead early in the second half when Hereford's Thompson lost his man.

"I would be disappoined if my centre-half done what his (Josh) centre-half done.

"Great bit of movement to lose a defender and get a tap-in."
