Last night Hereford bowed out of the FA Youth Cup. Visitors Rushall Olympic were the stronger team and the writing was on the wall after they scored their first goal in just two minutes.
A one minute silence in memory of the late Queen took place just before kick-off.
Hereford played up the slope in the first half but it was Rushall who started better. Just two minutes into the half they scored their first goal. Hereford's defence was caught napping.
Minutes later Hereford could have equalised when a shot went inches wide with the keeper beaten.
Another Hereford shot flew over the bar.
And another one.
Hereford were playing some good football and at this stage deserved an equaliser.
But then Rushall doubled their lead.
And mid way through the half made it 3-0.
The Bulls were awarded a free kick just outside the area and the shot hit the post with the keeper well beaten.
The second half was more even. Hereford created chances but the final touch wasn't good enough to trouble the Rushall keeper.
So the tie ended 3-0.
The score line was hard on the young Hereford side. There were some good individual performances but there's plenty of work to be done especially in defence.
