Hereford's season kicks-off with the visit of Spennymoor Town tomorrow and manager Josh Gowling says it will be a 'real tough test'.
"They don't come tougher than Spennymoor," said Gowling.
"I know the team managers, they are aggresive, they play quick football and we've got to match that.
"We've got to be on the front foot, we've got to be confident, the lads will be that, that's for sure.
"Obviously it's the first game of the season but I feel there is a confidence in this group this year.
"I think there's a confidence around the club, a positivity around the club that we've probably not had for a well which is pleasing to see."
Gowling feels there is more competition for places at present.
"I think if you look at the end of last season we didn't have that competion and that's probably where we fell short.
"So recruitment wise we made sure that we've got strength and depth in the squad and we've got that nice and early.
"We've got fire-power, we got centre-half cover, we've got full-back cover, we've got mid-field cover now.
"Really pleasing that we've got an array of players to fill gaps."
