Yesterday Hereford lost 1-0 at Scarborough but manager Josh Gowling felt the Bulls had enough chances in the first half to have won the game.
"The game should have been done at half time to be honest, simple as that" said Gowling.
"We had enough chances to win the game, to be comfortable in the game, and we didn’t take them and then we end up scoring an own goal at the end.
“You come to places like this and you don’t take your chances, you always run the risk of something like that happening and that’s what happened today."
Gowling said that they knew they would face long balls and long throw-ins.
"We knew they were going to do that and we dealt with it apart from one occasion..
"But for me second half we lost the game in the middle of the park. They got on top os us a little bit in the middle.
"It hasn't fallen flat, if you look at the first half you could have easily been two or three nil up at half-time.
"The lads put in a good performance first half but then you want them to roll their sleeves up a little bit more second half, be a bit more direct at times, play short at times, figure out the opposition a little bit, see what they are doing.
"The lads will learn, we're learning on the way.
"You need games like this sometimes for the lads to feel a loss, to have an understanding of what is required at this level. Obviously we've got a new squad and they've got to learn together as a group what we need to do in those moments.
"We can talk on the side lines but we can't play the game for everyone all the time.
"We took control the first twenty but there was a little period in the second half (of the first half) they came into the game but then we took back control towards the end of the first half.
"Second half and we nearly scored after a minute and so you wanted to kick-on but for me we didn't do that.
“When you have the chances you’ve had and you don’t put them in the net you end up getting nervy. It felt a nervy second half for us."
