Hereford took the lead against Arsenal just 30 seconds after kick-off in last night's pre-season friendly.
Afterwards the scorer of the goal, striker Tyrone Barnett, spoke to the media.
"It's always nice to score a goal especially first game at home," said Hereford's new striker.
"It's all about the minutes pre-season.
"It's always nice to score, it's good practice as a striker."
The game was watched by 2,456, probably the highest pre-season gate at Edgar Street for many years.
"It was very lively, I think fans at football is great, the more the better.
"To have so many today is a privilege and I enjoyed it."
Keith Hall suggested that Barnett, who was with Eastleigh last season, was the piece that fits the jig-saw.
"Hopefully yes, Josh is still working on how he wants us to play day by day. Hopefully we can put his tactics together and we can start the season flying.
"Exceptional pace today (Storey and Mclean). I've seen them in training but today in the game a different level. Sometimes they were breaking and I was really struggling to keep up with them.
"I never really like to set targets, it's not my style. I like to take each game at a time. If I can score in as many games as possible it will be great. I like to come up with a few assists every now and again as well. If I can come up with more assists and more goals this season then excellent.
"Sometimes strikers go through a dry patch and so we need goals chipped from midfielders and defenders so hopefully we'll do our jobs.
"I'm a striker at the end of the day I'm here to go score goals. That's going to be my main thing."
How are you finding the squad members so far?
"The squad has good depth, some of the players could play at a higher level. So it's not been that much of a change really.
"I've settled in quite well I think and I think there's more to learn from the players, playing with them more each day we'll get a bond and we'll take that into the season."
Barnett is West Midland based.
"During my career I've lived away a lot and my kids have grown up now so it was time to move back home. So the move and obviously talking to the gaffer was perfect. I wasn't going to sign anywhere else.
"I know a few of the players. With football and me being around so long you do get to meet a few players so it wasn't a strange environment to walk into. The lads greeted me, even the lads who didn't know me, they greeted me well and made me feel comfortable. It's a nice place to be.
"Josh is an excellent gaffer. Everything we spoke about on the phone, his plans, what he wants to do, how the club is run is exceptional, so it can only breed positive things."
