Speaking after Hereford lost to Hartpury in the HFA Cup Final, manager Josh Gowling spoke about the second half of the tie. Hereford were 1-0 ahead at half time.
"Some of the lads who were playing have not played regular football for us," said Gowling.
"First half you look at the way we pressed and turned the ball over quite quickly.
"Second half I felt we couldn't do that enough, but also we didn't keep the ball well enough.
"So when they dropped off we didn't really keep the ball, we probably tried to go forward a bit too early rather than keeping it and drawing them out a little bit.
"It's a learning curve for them, it's a great learning curve especially for the young lads like Mark (Derricot) . He had to come into a competitive game, first team game, first team environment and they'll learn a lot from it."
Hartpury were awarded a penalty from which they scored.
"It was very soft," said Gowling.
"The centre-half has got spun, the other centre-half hasn't covered round. There were a few errors before that.
"Same with their first goal, we've turned the ball over in the middle of the park in a bad area, the centre-half hasn't engaged quick enough and ended up scoring from it. Areas that they shouldn't be scoring from.
"It looked like Sondergaard chested it, so I'm not sure it hit the floor and bounced up. We'll have to look at it when we go back in. They had bodies around it and ended up scoring from it.
"We've got to be quicker in those little moments and defend better in the box and near their box be a bit more clinical."
